Educational service

SpeciesWatch provides curated educational and editorial material about biodiversity. It is not an official conservation authority, emergency alert system, scientific census or substitute for professional advice.

Data limitations

Source data may be delayed, incomplete, duplicated, generalized or revised. A map point does not prove presence, absence, ownership, legal protection or causation. Always consult the named primary source before relying on a record.

Permitted use

You may browse and link to public pages for lawful personal, educational and journalistic purposes. You must not disrupt the service, bypass security, submit malicious content, misrepresent the site, or use automated access in a way that harms availability or violates a source provider’s terms.

Content and third-party rights

Original SpeciesWatch text, design and software remain protected by applicable rights. Third-party data, maps, recordings, images and names retain their respective licences and attribution requirements. A link or display does not transfer ownership to SpeciesWatch.

No warranty and limitation

The service is provided on an “as available” basis without a promise that every page, feed or calculation will always be complete or uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law, SpeciesWatch is not liable for decisions or losses arising from reliance on the service.

Changes and governing rules

Features and these terms may change as the project develops. Continued use after an updated version is published constitutes acceptance of the revised terms, subject to mandatory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Questions may be sent to contact@specieswatch.io.
