Core sources
Wikimedia projects may provide background context and imagery. SpeciesWatch stores curated profiles and cached subsets in Supabase so free upstream services are not queried on every page view.
What the layers do not prove
An occurrence point is not a population census, a thermal anomaly is not automatically a wildfire boundary, and protected status does not guarantee effective ecological protection.
Source labels, timestamps and scope explanations are part of the product. When datasets disagree, the original provider and current scientific assessment remain authoritative.
